Pedestrian Struck By Car Exiting Blackwood Car Wash

The crash occurred at Lakeland Road and the Black Horse Pike.

UPDATE, 8/18, 8:45 p.m.: Investigators have determined that a car being moved out of the building at Autosheen Car Wash by an employee "sped up" and struck another employee Wednesday afternoon, police announced this evening.

Police have identified the Autosheen employee who was driving the car as Esteban Chavez, 38, of Lakeland Road, Blackwood. The victim has been identified as Ivan Rivera, 49, of Tuckahoe Road, Sewell.

No charges have been filed.

Rivera remained in critical but stable condition at Cooper University Hospital, in Camden, late this afternoon.

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in the area of Lakeland Road and the Black Horse Pike remains hospitalized in Camden today.

The accident occurred near Autosheen Car Wash, in the township's Blackwood section, at about 4:17 p.m. Wednesday, according to police.

The striking vehicle's driver remained at the crash scene as police and emergency medical personnel responded.

Police have identified the pedestrian as 49-year-old Ivan Rivera, of Tuckahoe Road in Sewell.

Rivera remained in critical but stable condition at Cooper University Hospital this afternoon, Gloucester Township Police Capt. Jeff Weiserth said.

The driver of the striking vehicle was by police in press release as 38-year-old Esteban Chavez, of Blackwood.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident, which remains under investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Serious Crash Investigation Team.
