Police Charge Lindenwold Man in Armed Robbery

The man allegedly brandished a handgun in the Monday evening robbery of a Lukoil gas station.

Police quickly apprehended a Lindenwold man who allegedly robbed the Blackwood Clementon Road Lukoil gas station at gunpoint Monday evening.

An employee at the gas station at 1685 Blackwood Clementon Rd., near the Route 42 interchange, waved down a Gloucester Township Police patrol officer to report a robbery at 5:22 p.m., police said this morning.

A township detective who responded to the scene was told that the robbery suspect brandished a handgun during the robbery.

The patrol officer, who initially was provided a description of the suspect vehicle and later its license plate number, spotted the car on Route 42 in Bellmawr, according to police.

and State Police conducted a high-risk motor vehicle stop resulting in the arrest of both vehicle occupants.

James Johnson, 29, of Arborwood Condos, is charged as the robbery suspect.

It is not believed the driver, Jermaine Linnen, 30, of Coachman Manor Apartments, Lindenwold, was aware of or participated in the Lukoil robbery, according to Gloucester Township Police Sgt. John Swack. No charges have been filed against him in connection with the robbery at this time.

Johnson was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree obstruction of justice. He was lodged in Camden County Jail on $250,000 bail.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Johnson reportedly discarded the weapon used in the robbery—supposedly a "cap gun"—while traveling on Route 42, Gloucester Township Police Capt. Anthony Minosse said. Police were unable to locate the weapon.

Linnen was lodged in Burlington County Jail on an unrelated warrant.
