Police Charge Two Camden Men, Including Fugitive, with Drug, Weapon Offenses

Two handguns and a pellet gun were recovered during the investigation into a "suspicious" car parked at a Heritage's store.

Police say investigation into a why a vehicle was parked at a Black Horse Pike convenience store after hours early Thursday led to the recovery of two handguns, a pellet gun and marijuana packaged for distribution.

Gloucester Township Police Department officers came upon the vehicle at Heritage's convenience store at around 2:40 a.m.

One of the vehicle's occupants was standing outside the "suspicious" car and appeared nervous when he was questioned by police, according to Lt. Jason Gittens.

The second occupant was found to be in possession of a defaced handgun and pellet gun after he exited the vehicle, according to police.

The investigating officers also found marijuana and a loaded 9 mm handgun inside the car, police said.

In a press release issued Thursday afternoon, police identified the two accused individuals as Raymond Rodriguez Jr., 32, of Jackson Street, Camden, and Daniel Pellot, 33, of Sheridan Street, Camden, but Thursday night issued an update indicating "Daniel Pellot" was an alias used by a fugitive whose real name is Carlos Rosario.

Local police said Rosario, 36, formerly of Lancaster, PA, has used the "Pellot" alias for 10 years. He apparently provided police with false identification Thursday morning.

Rodriguez was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. He was lodged in Camden County Jail on $50,000 bail.

Rosario was charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and single counts of fourth-degree possession of a defaced firearm, second-degree possession of a weapon during the commission of a narcotics offense, fourth-degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and a disorderly persons offense of possession of marijuana.

He was additionally charged with second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon, third-degree forgery, presenting false government documents and hindering apprehension by providing false self-information, and fourth-degree false reports to police after police learned his true identity.

Rosario was initially lodged in the county jail on $75,000 bail on the drug and weapon charges.

The investigating officers were Sgt. John Swack and Det. Scott Obermeier.
