Police, Firefighters Seek Suspect Along Big Timber Creek

The search was on for a burglary suspect along Big Timber Creek, including in the waterway.

Police and rescue crews were searching for a burglary suspect along Big Timber Creek, off Clements Bridge Road (Route 41) in the area where Gloucester Township's Glendora section meets Deptford and Runnemede, Wednesday afternoon.

At least two rescue boats were dispatched into the waterway to aid in the search.

The male suspect was being sought in connection with a residential burglary that occurred in Glendora, Gloucester Township Police Capt. Jeffrey Weiserth said at the scene.

Police received reports someone fitting the suspect's description was observed in the area and was accompanied by a white female, Capt. Anthony Minosse said Wednesday evening.

The search began around 1:30 p.m. after police responded to a West Front Street home where a burglary alarm had been activated. Investigation revealed entry to the home was not gained by the suspect, or suspects, Minosse said.

A light-skinned black male with curly, dark hair was seen running from the rear of the West Front Street home across the Timber Creek Liquors property, prompting the search in that area, Minosse said. He was wearing a blue, striped shirt with dark jeans.

Police did not locate a male suspect or a female suspect in the extensive search operation.

Roughly a dozen Gloucester Township Police Department vehicles, including a mobile command center, were in and out of Timber Creek Liquors' parking lot over the course of the afternoon. A section of the parking lot was blocked off by crime scene tape.

Gloucester Township Police officers were joined at the scene by Camden County Sheriff's Department K-9 units and personnel from Runnemede Fire Department, Glendora Fire Co., Gloucester Township EMS Alliance, and Gloucester Township Office of Emergency Management.

Deptford and Runnemede police officers also aided in the search, which went into Deptford.
