Police ID Pedestrians Hit by Cars

Gloucester Township Police say the pedestrians are in critical condition.

Police have identified the two pedestrians struck by cars in separate accidents in Gloucester Township about two hours apart Thursday night.

Both men are listed in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital, in Camden, according to police. They are Gloucester Township residents.

John Garland, 56, of Millbridge Gardens, was struck by a car at Blackwood Clementon Road and Kelly Drivers Lane, according to Gloucester Township Police Capt. Jeff Weiserth.

Initial reports indicated Garland had sustained a fractured femur in the crash, which at approximately 6:50 p.m. Weiserth's statement on the accident noted Garland had sustained multiple injuries.

The second pedestrian-involved accident occurred at about 8:56 p.m.

Troy Williams, 45, of Cattel Drive, Erial, was struck by a car at Sicklerville and Garwood roads, Weiserth said. Early reports indicated he had sustained a serious head injury and that a medical helicopter initially had been requested but was cancelled.

Police identified the driver in the Blackwood Clementon Road accident as Calvin Espeut, 21, of Pine Hill, and the driver in the Sicklerville Road accident as Mikhel Harrison, 17, of Sicklerville. No charges have been filed against either driver, Weiserth said, noting both accidents remain under investigation by Glouceser Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau-Serious Crash Investigation Team.

Sicklerville Road was shut down for about two-and-a-half hours as police investigated the crash there.
