Police: Illegally Parked Car Brings Gun Charges

Police charged two men with possessing illegal sawed-off shotguns in Chews Landing this weekend.

Police say an illegally parked car led to two men being charged with possessing two illegal sawed-off shotguns in the township's Chews Landing section this weekend.

Ptl. Eric Marconi spotted a white Mitsubishi Galant illegally parked on Kings Street at 7:14 a.m. Saturday, Gloucester Township Police Lt. Edward Bryant said. The officer then observed Devonte Green, 19, of South Black Horse Pike, Williamstown, asleep in the car's back seat.

It took some coaxing on Marconi's part to wake up Green, who reportedly was highly intoxicated and required treatment at a local hospital.

While attempting to determine who owns the Mitsubishi, police located the two sawed-off shotguns in the car's trunk.

Police contacted the vehicle's registered owner, who indicated her husband, 31-year-old Wenonah resident Tyhee Marshall, should have been in possession of her car.

Police located Marshall at a home located nearby where Marconi spotted the Mitsubishi illegally parked, Bryant said.

Marshall and Green each were charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon. Both were lodged in Camden County Jail on $80,000 bail.
