Police: Lock Your Car Doors!

Police have experienced a spike in car burglary calls in recent weeks.

Police are reminding residents to lock their car doors following a rash of car burglaries here in the township in recent weeks.

The burglaries have been spread around the township, occurring in residential areas from Erial on the township's south end to Blackwood on the north side, according to Gloucester Township Police Sgt. Brendan Barton. The burglaries have been taking place during overnight hours.

Roughly 20 cars had been burglarized between Aug. 28 and Tuesday afternoon.

"The majority of them have been unlocked," Barton noted.

Police advise residents to lock their cars doors and to be on the lookout for suspicious individuals wandering in neighborhoods late at night.

Barton stressed that residents should not approach anyone they may deem to be suspicious, but should rather contact police at 856-228-4500.
