Police Release Video of Attempted Car Theft

Police hope the video's release will lead them to the suspects in the incident at the Blackwood Clementon Road ShopRite.

Police on Wednesday released video surveillance footage that shows the suspect vehicle in an attempted car theft in the parking lot of the Blackwood Clementon Road ShopRite last week.

Gloucester Township Police described the suspect vehicle as a dark pickup truck, possibly a 1999 to 2002 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC 1500 with an extended cab.

The video also includes blurry footage of the suspects entering the victim's car.

The burglary occurred at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22.

The suspect who was traveling as a passenger in the pickup attempted to break into the car's steering column in order to steal the car, but was unsuccessful, according to police.

The suspects did steal some items from the car before they fled in their pickup truck.
