Police Seek Help ID'ing Cigarette Thief

Police released surveillance video that shows a woman grab two cartons of cigarettes and run out of a Blackwood Wawa.

Police on Wednesday released a surveillance video showing a woman fleeing from a Blackwood Wawa with two cartons of cigarettes for which she had not paid.

The theft occurred at the Wawa at Little Gloucester and Erial roads on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at around 2:30 p.m., police said.

The video shows the woman grabbed two cartons of Newport cigarettes off the counter immediately after she appeared to fake an attempt to swipe a credit or debit card through the store's card-reading machine. The suspect then ran from the store and, according to police, fled in a black SUV.
