Police Turn to Social Media to Catch Alleged Handbag Thief

Gloucester Township police released a video this week of a woman accused of stealing a handbag from the CVS store on Berlin-Cross Keys Road.

The incident occurred on Oct 6. Police said:

The female suspect, seen in this video, entered the store and asked several store customers to borrow their phones because she was having car troubles. She then used the store's phone, which was at a closed cash register counter and contained an employee's handbag on the far side of the counter. The suspect attempted to conceal and steal that handbag a first time, but stopped as a customer approached the checkout counter. A moment later, the suspect picked up the handbag, concealed it into a white shopping bag, and quickly exited the store.
The suspect appears to be a black female in her 30's, medium built, wearing a pink and multicolored stretch pants, a white shirt, and white sneakers.
