Reported Drug Sale a Real Drag

A Gloucester Township man gets dragged 60 feet in a drug sale gone wrong, police say.

An alleged plan to sell prescription drugs didn’t work out seemingly as planned for a Gloucester Township man Friday, according to police reports.

Police said Daniel Jones Jr., of Woodland Avenue, lied to them about being the victim of a hit and run accident just before 5 p.m. in the Blackwood Plaza parking lot at Route 168 and Davistown Road.

In reality, police said, Jones was dragged about 60 feet by a car after attempting to sell its occupants prescription drugs. As he leaned into the vehicles, one of the occupants grabbed the narcotics while the driver began to pull away, according to reports.

Jones held on for 60 feet before he fell. He described the other suspects and car to police while reporting that a car had hit him from behind and fled the scene, but an investigation revealed the actual events, police said.

Jones received treatment at Kennedy Hospital for scratches and abrasions to his knees, hands, back and hip. He also received a charge of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.

The car’s occupants also face charges. Kyle Crosby, of Saint Moritz Drive, Sicklerville, was remanded to Camden County Jail on a charge of first degree robbery. Tara Shields, of Maryellen Lane, faces charges of obstruction of justice and filing a false police report to implicate another.
