Second Suspect Charged in Connection With Murder of Riverside Man

Eugene Harrison has been charged in connection with the 2012 murder. A Camden teen pleaded guilty to the crime last week.

A second defendant has been charged in the 2012 murder of a Riverside man after a Camden teenager pleaded guilty in connection with the crime last week, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk announced on Wednesday.

Eugene Harrison, 23, of Camden, was charged with felony murder in connection with the death of Michael Haller. He was taken into custody on Tuesday morning and arraigned on Wednesday. Bail was set at $1.5 million.

Hasan Dallas, 17, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in connection with the crime on Thursday of last week.  He admitted to shooting Michael Haller, 40, on the 600 block of Elm Street in Camden on Oct. 12, 2012.

He said he approached Haller as Haller rode his bike on Vine Street and walked with him to the site of the shooting. He then went into a nearby home to retrieve a gun in an attempt to rob Haller.

Dallas said he shot Haller. He didn't obtain any cash.

His sentencing is scheduled for April 11, and he is expected to be sentenced to 19 years in state prison. He would have to serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
