Sicklerville Man Charged With Streak of Burglaries, Attempted Burglaries

The investigation of Aaron Ortiz also resulted in a stolen firearm being taken off the streets.

A Sicklerville man has been charged with two home burglaries and two attempted burglaries after police apprehended him after an attempted break-in Wednesday night, Gloucester Township Police announced on Thursday.

Aaron Ortiz, 19, was charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, five counts of theft, unlawful possession of a firearm and several other criminal offenses after attempting to break into a home on Ashland Avenue.

The homeowner became aware Ortiz was attempting to break into his house through a rear sliding door and alerted police. Officers were on patrol in the area and quickly identified Ortiz as the person attempting to break into the home as he was walking down the street.

Police placed Ortiz under arrest and transported him to police headquarters. An investigation connected Ortiz to another attempted burglary and two burglaries that took place a few days prior.

As a result of the investigation, a stolen firearm was also recovered and removed from the streets.

Ortiz was processed and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility on default of $175,000.00 cash bail.
