Some Lakeview Residents Don't Feel Safe After Dead Woman Found in Bushes

Moses Rivera says he felt safer in Camden than at the Lakeview Apartments in Gloucester Township.

Neighbors at the Lakeview Apartments question their safety after a dead woman is found in the bushes.
Neighbors at the Lakeview Apartments question their safety after a dead woman is found in the bushes.
Moses Rivera said he used to live in Camden, but moved his wife and two children to Gloucester Township for a better life.

He's not so sure it was a good idea. Rivera stood under a sweltering sun Monday peering down a driveway at the Lakeview Apartments near Lower Landing Road and Route 42 north, watching police comb a wooded area after a dead woman was found.

Carol Reiff, a resident of the apartment complex was reported missing on Saturday. Police have not confirmed if the body found is her.

Meanwhile, Rivera says he's "out of here" when his lease is up at the end of the year.

I'm not sure which annoys me more, the idiotic comments from Moses or that Patch actually printed them. Really? You felt safer in Camden? This is a terrible crime but to compare one of America's poorest and dangerous cities to Gloucester Township is inane.

I am old. Back in the day, I always thought that complex was so nice, the apartments were spacious and the balconies were huge and covered depending on the floor you rented. I never lived there because it was just too expensive for me when I was just leaving home but had friends that did there and it was really nice then. Again, sad.

I agree with Publius. Waste of an article.

Gloucester Township is a very safe place to live. You can't take the actions of one person and assume that the entire township is unsafe. I'm sure once the truth comes out we'll see it was either natural causes or drug related (I mean she was 59 and weighed 95 pounds for crying out loud!!!)

She was 5' and 95 lbs and a runner. She ran about 30 miles a week. Dont assume thin and physically fit as an athlete is drug us. Jesus. People.

The real scary thing is the body was very badly decomposed and dental records are required to attempt to ID whoever was found. If Reiff was missing only from Thursday to Monday, she could not have decomposed that badly and the body may not be her. BTW: Lovelining, I can agree with you when we speak of defacing property? Public fighting? Other lower crimes associated with bad behavior. But when it comes to murder and body dumping? No, As a woman, I don't feel safe anymore.

I live here!!! And defiantly DO NOT FEEL SAFE!!! AND I LIVE WITH A DECORATED COMBAT MARINE!!! So please, do not compare Camden or Gloucester or any other place in the world to here, nowhere is safe like it used to be, simply because there ARE people who JUST DO NOT CARE, or have any compassion for life anymore. SAD< SCARY<NOT SAFE

LovelivinginGT if Carol Reiff's body is found and the result of her death is drug relayed or natural causes, I'll buy your coffee/tea/whatever every day for a month. GT may be safe, but it's not perfect. Horrific crimes have occurred in far nicer and more quiet and close knit communities than this. Get your head out of the sand!! That comment was ludicrous!
Lovelivingingt June 26, 2013 at 11:47 AM
Mollie - I believe that people are generally compassionate and care about other people. There are always a few "bad apples" out there. I'm sure the authorities will get to the bottom of this and find the people / person responsible and bring them to justice for this woman and her family. Hang in there!

I was goin to comment the same thing Debbie did. What scares me is if this body is too badly decomposed to identify, what's the likelihood that its that of a woman missing for 3 days? If she turns up dead as well- well 2 dead women in one small area is most certainly cause for concentrate in my book!!!!!!!
Lovelivingingt June 26, 2013 at 12:07 PM
Angie - Thanks for attacking me base on my opinion! I guess one can only comment on here if you agree with it. With that being said, I apologize if I offended anyone. No one should die like that (whoever it is). I hope they find the person / people involved and bring them to justice so the family can have some closure. Also - A body left in the air and high temperatures can decompose beyond recognition in as little as 4 days.

If the initial article only quotes one person, and the video only interviews the same person, how can you headline the story "Some Lakeview Residents Don't Feel Safe After Dead Woman Found in Bushes?" I am sure a lot more residents do feel the same way, but to only interview one person and then put "Some" in the headline is lazy and poor journalism. Patch used to be better than this.

You should not feel safe. There may be a murderer amoung us.

Gloucester Two has 2 tanks Camden has 0 tanks

Wasn't trying to attack. Just couldn't believe the insensitivity of your comment. Apologies if it came off that way.

My daughter just moved into Lakeview... I feel sad for this woman and her family. Just because she was found there does not mean that she was killed there........IF she was actually murdered. She was a runner, could have fallen, etc. People, people, it is so time to stop pointing fingers, having assumptions and vocalizing them before the facts come out. It is so easy to sit in front of your computers and run your mouthes. Have some respect for the family of this woman!

When was the last time you felt safe in GT?
justme July 08, 2013 at 09:41 PM
I find it frustrating that no one knows what happened, and its weeks later? Someone killed this woman and no one seems to be looking for a killer or putting it out in the news. This is why no one is safe. Its more frightening to think that if you go missing or dead, no one will even look for you, or solve your case. Where is the story? They must know more by now. Maybe with more information people would remember seeing something?
