There’s no such thing as a free tank of gas, as two people discovered Saturday morning. Their alleged attempts to steal gas could cost them a pretty penny.

Police said [Name Removed], 25, of Almonesson Road and Edward Ellis, 31, of Nicholson Road in Gloucester City asked a Blenheim Exxon attendant to fill their car’s tank. The pair did not have money to pay for the $36 tankful, and didn’t plan to pay, police said.

When the attendant realized the pair’s alleged plan, he left the gas nozzle in the car and asked another worker to keep watch over the vehicle.

Ellis didn’t take kindly to this, police said, jumping from the car, pushing the attendant out of the way and pulling the nozzle from the tank. The scuffle injured the attendant’s hand.
