Teen Held in Knifepoint Robbery of Blackwood Mother

A 15-year-old was allegedly wearing a ski mask and was a Gloucester Township resident, police and a witness said.

A mother in the unit block of Deer Park Circle was confronted in her home Wednesday morning by a knife-wielding teen wearing a ski mask, who was later caught by police after fleeing with the woman's cell phone, Gloucester Township police said.

Police established a perimeter around the home in the Blackwood section of the township, caught a 15-year-old and charged him with robbery, burglary, terroristic threats, criminal restraint and two other related charges. The incident was reported at 7:47 a.m.

Because he is a juvenile, his name was not released. The teen alleged entered the home through an unlocked door and fled through the rear of the house.

A neighbor, who declined to give her name, said the mother knew the teen and that he lived in the neighborhood. Neighbors and children attempting to leave their homes for work and school were told to get back inside during the search for the teen, a witness said.
