Search for Missing Woman Continues After a Body Found

A police K-9 team discovered the body of a woman Monday morning in a wooded area in the Lakeview Apartment complex in the 500 block of Lower Landing Road, but would not confirm if it was the body of a woman reported missing there on Saturday.

The body was found shortly before noon on Monday. Teams of Gloucester Township police worked under a sweltering sun in 90-degree heat combing the area for evidence after the body was removed.

Carol Reiff, 59, who lived in an apartment near where the body was found, was reported missing by her family on Saturday. She failed to show up at a family gathering in North Jersey on Friday. She last spoke to family members on Thursday.

Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle delivered a carefully worded statement Monday afternoon, saying the search for Reiff was continuing and that her family had been notified of developments.
