Third Arrest in Autumn Ridge Apts. Homicide

Police say an alleged drug deal was eclipsed by a fatal shooting and robbery.

A 17-year-old male from Willingboro was charged Monday with robbery in connection with the shooting death of Lamar Ortiz on July 15 in the parking lot of the Autumn Ridge Apartments on Little Gloucester Road.

Two others have been charged in Ortiz’s killing. A 16-year-old from Edgewater Park is accused of shooting Ortiz, 20, and is charged with murder, felony murder and attempted murder. Joshua Texidor, 20, of Westampton, is charged with felony murder and robbery.

The two juveniles and Texidor are accused of participating in an attempted robbery that led to the 16-year-old allegedly shooting Ortiz shortly after 10 p.m. that night. The three accused and one other drove to Autumn Ridge Apartments for what had been arranged as a drug deal, according to a statement from the Camden County prosecutor. It appears they intended to rob Ortiz, but when the victim walked away from the deal, the 16-year-old is accused of pulling a gun and shooting the victim several times.
