Three Charged in Mister Softee BB Gun Robbery

The robbery occurred in Revere Run Tuesday night.

Police have charged a Delaware man and two juveniles with robbing a Mister Softee ice-cream truck operator in the township's Erial section Tuesday night.

The victim told police he was parked on Loch Lomond Drive, in the Revere Run development off Hickstown Road, when he was approached by two black males he believed to be customers.

As the victim opened the service window, one of the males pulled out a handgun, pointed it at his face and demanded money as the second male walked away, he reported.

The Mister Softee truck driver handed the robber $20, then drove his truck from the area as ordered by the robber, according to Gloucester Township Police Sgt. Jack Swack. He encountered a Gloucester Township Police special officer in the area and reported the crime.

Police swarmed the area and were able to locate the suspect who had walked away from the truck as the handgun was drawn on the victim. The victim made identification, Swack said.

Further investigation revealed the identities of two other males who allegedly were involved in the robbery, as well as the recovery of the weapon believed used to carry about the crime, a BB gun, which was located behind one suspect's home.

Police ultimately made three arrests.

Sheldon Abrams, 20, of Council Drive in Newark, DE, was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was lodged in Camden County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Two juvenile males, whom police are not identifying, face the same charges as Abrams in connection with the Mister Softee robbery. They were lodged in Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.
