Trick-or-Treating in Gloucester Township

Find out when you can trick-or-treat in Gloucester Township, as well as the special curfew times and safety tips for Halloween.

UPDATE, 3:53 p.m. 10/31: Gloucester Township trick-or-treating has again been rescheduled, this time to Monday, Nov. 5, from 3 to 7 p.m., due to Gov. Chris Christie's executive order.

----------

UPDATE, 1:43 p.m. 10/30: Trick-or-treating in Gloucester Township, scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, aka the "Frankenstorm."

A make-up date has not yet been announced, but the township notes trick-or-treating activities will be held later this week.

----------

Trick-or-treating hours for Halloween 2012 in Gloucester Township are scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Stay with Patch for a potential change to the trick-or-treating schedule as a result of the seemingly imminent storm slated to hit the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast as Hurricane Sandy moves north.

Gloucester Township Police announced this week that curfew for minors has been adjusted for Halloween. Curfew for Monday, Oct. 29, Tuesday, Oct. 30, and Wednesday, Oct. 31, will be 7:00 p.m. for anyone less than 18 years old who is not accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other adult having custody, care, or control of the juvenile.

Police advise residents to take the following precautions on Mischief Night (Oct. 30):

1. Park your car in the garage and secure the vehicle and garage door.
2. Leave your house lights on, especially exterior lights.
3. Stay home.
4. Lock up your valuables.
5. Put away children’s yard toys. They could be stolen or damaged.
6. Lock your car doors.

Police also asks residents to report any suspicious activityby calling dispatch at 856-228-4500 or, if it's an emergency, 911. When reporting suspicious activity, police ask that you be as descriptive as possible. The description of the individual(s), location or direction of travel, and tag on a motor vehicle is extremely helpful.

Please do not put yourself in any danger.

It was a smart move, but every year the curfew is getting shorter and shorter. Kids aren't home from school until 5:00, the older kids. What happened to the earlier time being for the young children with the cute costumes, and the later time 7-9 was for the older kids with scarier costumes? Not ALL kids are bad!!! By making the time shorter and shorter you are taking away the fact that we believe in them and still have trust! That is soo important! It is also taking away that older children can still have clean fun. Please , re-think the curfew, let the kids have fun, and if they crack an egg on a car it really won't hurt anyone. Let's all face it, are our pasts so unblemished? We were kids once too!!!

Maybe if they spent less time signing onto Team Booker and more time doing the job they were electedRead More to, our roads would not be such a mess. This is what happens when you elect the Manchurian Mayer.
