UPDATE, 12:56 p.m., 10/4: The Camden County Prosecutor's Office has called a 3 p.m. press conference to announce the arrests of three teachers and two administrators from Triton Regional High School.

Action News 6ABC.com reports principal Cathy DePaul is among the administrators charged in connection with the probe, which centers around three teachers' "sexual indiscretions" involving three female students.

----------

Three Triton Regional High School teachers are being investigated by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office for alleged misconduct involving now-former students.

The three teachers were placed on administrative leave at separate times late this summer and earlier in the school year, according to sources.

The now-former students reportedly graduated from Triton in June. The alleged misconduct, however, occurred while the students still attended the Runnemede school.

Patch has confirmed the ongoing investigation with several sources over the past week. The sources requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation.

Patch has learned the identities of the three teachers who are being investigated for alleged misconduct, but is withholding their names pending the investigation's outcome.

Camden County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Jason Laughlin declined to comment for this report. He previously indicated he could not confirm or deny the existence of the investigation.

Triton is part of the Black Horse Pike Regional School District. The school draws students from three Camden County towns: Bellmawr, Gloucester Township and Runnemede. About 1,600 students attend Triton.

Gloucester Township Police Department has not been involved in the investigation.

A message left for Black Horse Pike Regional School District Superintendent John Golden on Wednesday morning was not returned. Like Laughlin, he previously declined to confirm or deny the existence of the investigation.

We can't spread rumors and make baseless accusations? HA, the point of social media then?

Interesting.

I have no horse in this race. But I must admit, I would be concerned as a local resident when nameless and faceless editors get to approve or disapprove what a taxpayer for these schools has to say on a public forum. I would proceed with caution when acting as the gatekeeper for public opinion. I understand the reasoning, but I would still walk very carefully.

Hi Ron, Thanks for your comment. Just so you know, it's not a nameless, faceless editor. It's Sean, who commented above, whose email and contact info is readily available. If he's not around, it's me (lauren.burgoon@patch.com) as the associate regional editor or regional editor Tim Zatzariny (tim.zatz@patch.com). We're absolutely not trying to play gatekeeper on legitimate comments, but rather, given the sensitive nature of the investigation, avoid speculations and "naming names" before any charges on filed. To that end, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office is holding a press conference at 3 p.m. today and we'll have an updated soon story after.

Another reason why I sent my freshman to Paul VI this year! Our school district is falling apart, our test scores are horrible and now these charges of sexual misconduct and coverup by management. It's a disgrace!

I do not find any humor in some of these comments. I pray it never happens to your child. These are most always people in a position of "trust" and "authority." These acts are horrible and so very damaging and traumatic to children that even with years of therapy a majority never goes on to live a happy and "normal" life. These perverts will get "time-out," a few years of probation, a slap on the wrist, and they go on their merry way to repeat their abuse with other children. When will we, as good citizens, as caring protectors of the children in our country finally going to put a stop to this? It seems to have reached a point where many people are simply numb to this trauma as it happens all of the time. They give a "too bad" and go on with their lives. If this was your child; when it hits home, that is when people react and act. There are a few good groups in America who work to save these chldren and who work to stop these perverts who should never be allowed near a child. One that I have followed for decades is Focus Adolescent Services, Focusas.com. They save the lives of American children. They have a feee national help line for parents and for professionals. Do something please people. Support our children, stop this! People give more to save a snail or a bird than to save innocent little children. Send a donation, ten bucks or ten thousand bucks to them or a group whose work you like. This is insane.

This is really horrible. My kids are not in high school yet, but just knowing that this is where they are supposed to go, is really appalling. At least now that it's all out, people can stop posting ominous comments in unrelated article threads about why the teachers at Triton were "mysteriously transferred" and no one was reporting it. Now we know. I'm sure had Patch known sooner, they would have reported it.
Danie girl October 05, 2012 at 12:41 AM
Oh yeah Paul IV is no better, theres just as many if not more priests doing the same horrible things. There are alot of disgusting people put in administrative positions with our children that shouldnt be there. This isnt just a public school thing, whats goin on with the priests is even worse!
teresa October 05, 2012 at 01:20 AM
What the teachers and the administration did was definitely wrong I don't know if I would consider the girls involved victims. Were they forced into the situation or were they willing participants? Yes the administrators should have absolutely contacted the parents first when this situation was reported to them. Unfortunately we live in a fast world. Children don't stay children very long. Parents need to be more involved in their children's lives. I do not mean to offend anyone with my comment. This is just my opinion.
Donna Rose October 05, 2012 at 02:29 AM
Very sad regardless of where it happens. I wouldn't feel so smug thinking sending my child to Catholic school would protect them. You only have to pick up any newspaper to read the horrors that have gone on in that setting. Bad people are everywhere.
Michelle Wolfson October 05, 2012 at 02:33 AM
I have seen several people take the position that because of the girls' ages and the assumption that they were 'willing participants" in these acts, that is not as serious an offense. I think the point is, that if these accusations are true, regardless of whether or not the girls agreed to a sexual relationship with these teachers, it was still illegal. And they knew that. These men were in a position of power, and whether or not the girls consented to the relationships), it was their obligation to know better and to do better. If the charges are true, at the VERY least they abused their power, violated the code of conduct and ethics that goes with their job title, and basically just used extremely poor judgment. Was it sexual asault? Well, maybe not in the eyes of some, but in the eyes of the law it will be if they are proven guilty- and really, as adults and educators, shouldn't they just have simply known better. Why risk it? Why throw your career away? Sad. Very sad all around.
Michelle Wolfson October 05, 2012 at 02:36 AM
And as far as the school administrators trying to cover it up- that to me is even more shocking. That makes me even more fearful to send my children to school. These are supposed to be the people that we entrust to protect our children, to take care of our children. The fact that they willingly and continually jeopardized the students of this school is disgusting.
Sandy October 05, 2012 at 03:05 AM
Danie girl...last I checked no one from Paul VI has been charged with sexual misconduct. As unfortunate as these charges are, it reassures my decision to send my children outside the district for their education. Teresa, a minor is a minor regardless...these men were adults and the students should have never been put in that situation. As for the principle and vice principle...a disgrace that they tried to cover this up! I hope they all lose their jobs, pension and go to jail for a long time!
Kevin October 05, 2012 at 03:05 AM
In looking at the comments above, I have a few things to say. To Michelle Wolfson. Do u think ur children are "safe" just because they don't go to Triton yet? If u read the news, this type of sexual misconduct knows no age limit. There are pre-school and daycare teachers and supervisors being arrested for this crime with victims as young as 2 years old. To Sandy, Paul VI is a school, just like any other. To Danie Girl, it has nothing to do with Priests. Studies have shown child molestation occurs in all religions; u just hear more about the Catholic Church than others, because there are so many more Catholic Churches than other religions. U can blame administration for the majority of this, because it was an attempted cover up, similar to the Jerry Sandusky case. When authority turns a blind eye to the crimes of their subordinates, no child anywhere, is safe.
teresa October 05, 2012 at 03:13 AM
The whole situation is very sad.
Michelle Wolfson October 05, 2012 at 03:49 AM
Obviously this happens everywhere and at every age/school level. My comment was merely reflecting the fact that having this occur right here in our own back yard, where my own daughter will be a student before you know it, is shocking. We tend to look at things with a different eye when it hits home. Personally, my guard is always up when it comes to my children. But thank you for your concern.
mathforeveryone October 05, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Michelle, you are correct. This is not a "one bad teacher" issue, this is a institutional breakdown and it occurred at Triton, not Highland not any other private schools. I just cant accept the fact that administrators would risk their own jobs to cover up for not 1, but 3 bad teachers unless there was a reason for it. They need to dig deep into this and uncover everything. Also, they need to encourage all students, past and present to come forward if this has happened elsewhere in the district.

I am a Triton Graduate. Things aren't that simple The school is a great school and I do not approve what happened but I beleive that these younger female students need to learn no to pursue teachers either. These things happen everywhere its just the matter that these certain few got caught. Its like drugs they are even in the best of places. the teachers who were arrested as well as administrators are great people they just got caught up in a bad situation. *** For people who will be sending his/ her child to Triton do not worry , it is not as bad as it seems.
jenn October 05, 2012 at 02:00 PM
I am a Triton Graduate .. I know all of these teachers , they are all great teachers. As far as the principles they are great as well. It was Ms.DePauls Second year as Head Principal , i beleive this was a difficult situation that just got out of hand and was sort of difficult or scary to deal with. When one is put in a situation that you have never dealt with before , you just don't know what to do. Ms.DePaul is a great person she helped me through a lot my senior year. As far as the teachers they were great teachers and they got caught up in something that shouldn't of happend but I am sure that the young ladies were pursuing them as well if not im sure the teachers wouldn't of, "just gone with it." ***As far as anyone questioning whether or not to send their child/ren to Triton i wouldn't hesitate to send them the school is an alround good school .
