Two Displaced Following Millbridge Garden Apartment Fire

One firefighter was injured battling the blaze.

A fire at Millbridge Garden Apartments left one firefighter injured and two residents displaced Friday afternoon, according to Gloucester Township Police.

Police officers arrived on location to find a heavy smoke and fire condition coming from a second floor apartment in the 800 Building.

Officers then went door to door in the building to evacuate any residents that may have been home, and 16 apartments were evacuated.

Fire personnel from the Chews Landing, Blackwood, Lindenwold, Runnemede, Lambs Terrace and Deptford fire departments arrived on location and quickly knocked the fire down.

One firefighter sustained a knee injury while on the fire ground and was transported by GTEMS to Virtua Hospital Voorhees. The firefighter is expected to be released.

All but two residents were permitted to return to their apartments. Two residents could not return because their apartments sustained fire or smoke and water damage. They were placed in alternate housing by the management of the apartment complex.

The cause of the fire is under the investigation by the Chews Landing Fire Marshals office and the Gloucester Township Police Department.
