UPDATE: Two Families Displaced by Millbridge Gardens Fire

Preliminary investigation shows nothing suspicious about the fire, police said.

There appears to be nothing suspicious about a fire at Millbridge Gardens Apartments Monday evening that displaced two families, according to police.

The fire in the 200 section of the apartment complex located at 1341 Blackwood Clementon Road was reported at 6:18 p.m. Monday.

Police arrived on scene to find that all residents were out of the second-floor unit where the blaze started. Nearby apartments were then evacuated.

The Chews Landing Fire Department, aided by Pine Hill and Lindenwold fire departments, was able to quickly extinguish the fire, according to Gloucester Township Police Lt. Mike Harkins.

No one was injured in the fire.

Millbridge Gardens management has placed the residents of the two affected apartments in a local hotel until their units are repaired, Harkins said.

While not believed to be suspicious at this time, the fire remains under investigation by police, Chews Landing Fire Department, and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Arson Investigation Unit.
