Broadway Bridge Reopens to Larger Vehicles

The bridge that connects Gloucester City and Brooklawn is reopened to vehicles over 8 tons.

Broadway Bridge is now open to larger vehicles, the Camden County Freeholder Board announced earlier this week.

Two-way traffic has been relocated to the newly-constructed western side of the bridge that connects Gloucester City and Brooklawn. The bridge has been reopened to vehicles over 8 tons, including trucks and tractor trailers.

The previous bridge had become structurally deficient and is currently under replacement by the Camden County Public Works Department.

Camden County’s $4,154,144.00 project included the demolition of the existing structure over Little Timber Creek and construction of a new bridge including new abutments, bridge span, decking and parapets.

The project also features new bridge approaches, new pedestrian sidewalks, new guide rails, traffic striping and roadway markings.

“Whenever you are driving through a road construction zone, please stay prepared for traffic pattern changes, and be observant of posted instructions or directions from police officers,” Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, said.
