Camden County College to Offer BSN Track in 2013

A new program to be offered by Camden County College beginning in 2013 seeks to put people in position to fill an expected nursing void.

Looking for a new career?

In the next two decades, New Jersey will face a deficit of 23,000 nurses, according to the New Jersey Nursing Initiative.

That's why, in 2013, Camden County College (CCC) will begin offering a degree track for the Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) at its Blackwood campus, according to a press release issued by the office of Camden County Freeholder Ian Leonard.

Calling it a "groundbreaking new program," Leonard said the CCC BSN track will provide the same pre-licensing program followed by nursing students at the Rutgers University's New Brunswick and Newark campuses.

"The nursing industry is evolving into a BSN-only career track, so this program is needed in our region for students who want to pursue this career without leaving the area," Leonard said in the statement.

Students who have completed an associate of science degree or who have earned an equivalent number of credits at CCC are invited to consider it.

"Camden County College will now be the home to an important program that will educate a large part of our skilled labor for this region and feed our robust medical systems," Leonard's statement read.
