UPDATE: Camden County Extends Code Blue Through Tuesday Night
The advisory comes as temperatures plummet into the 20's Monday night and the region prepares for a storm Tuesday afternoon.
UPDATE: The Code Blue Weather Advisory has been extended through Tuesday night. The advisory is effective 6 p.m. Tuesday night through 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.
ORIGINAL: Spring is in the air, but so are conditions that can result in a massive storm for the area. Camden County has issued a Code Blue Weather Advisory for Monday night.
The Health Officer issued the severe weather advisory for Camden County effective from 6:00 p.m. Monday night through 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
“The calendar may say it is spring, but frigid temperatures and snow are in the forecast this week,” Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Health Department, said. “It will become bitterly cold tonight, and we need everyone to be sheltered and out of the elements.”

Temperatures are expected to drop into the 20’s Monday night, with winds out of the northwest up to 15 miles per hour. Additionally, a coastal storm is threatening to dump up to 2 inches of snow the region beginning Tuesday afternoon.
The best chance for accumulation will come after 4 p.m. Tuesday, followed by additional scattered snowfall into Wednesday morning.

When the Camden County Health Officer declares a Severe Weather Emergency, municipalities with homeless populations, situational homeless or transient populations are expected to activate their Code Blue response plan to accommodate their immediate needs.
The Camden County Health Department and the Office of Emergency Management have worked with each municipality to ensure they have the proper resources to respond to these severe weather situations as part of their individual Code Blue plans. Each municipality has identified its own location to accommodate those in their community seeking shelter from the severe weather.
“During these weather emergencies, we encourage everyone to check on elderly or handicapped relatives and neighbors that live alone,” Rodriguez said. “It is important that most vulnerable among us are not left without heat or electricity.”
