Council, Mayor Recognize Glendora Little League Champs

Two Glendora teams took District 14 titles this summer.

Mayor David Mayer and the Township Council recognized Glendora Little League's champions during Monday night's Township Council meeting.

"I am proud that our Glendora Little League has won not one but two district championships," Council President Glen Bianchini said.

Glendora's 9- and 10-year-old and 13- and 14-year-old teams each won District 14 titles this past summer.

The 9/10 team became Glendora's first to win a game at the sectional level of competition. The team rolled through district-round play, going 5-0 and winning its first three games by a combined score of 40-0.

"The boys roughly had 13, 14 days to prepare. We had 10 practices," manager Joe Snyder recalled. "In the beginning, we gave them a goal. At our very first practice, we told them we need five wins. That's one pitch, one at-bat, one inning, one game at a time. And I think they did that."

Mayer thanked the teams' coaches for volunteering their time.

"What you are doing is making Gloucester Township a great place to live, a great place to grow up," he said.

Henry Theisen, manager of the 13/14 team, thanked his players' parents for their efforts.

"All the parents were supportive. I know I practiced the boys every night that I possibly could," he said. "To the coaching staff, the kids, the parents: I really appreciate it. Thanks for having a good year. See you next year."

Mayer challenged both teams to "raise the bar" next year and bring home state titles.
