County Begins Improvement Work on Challenge Grove Park

Work began Friday on the $1,197,730 project.

Improvements are being made to the the multi-purpose trail at the County’s Challenge Grove Park in Cherry Hill, the Camden County Freeholders announced this week.

Work began Friday on the $1,197,730 project that includes the refurbishment of the asphalt walking and biking trail from Grove Street to Caldwell Road, new landscape plantings, and the installation of decorative fencing and trail signage.  The project also features the construction of curbing and rain water infiltration bed from Kings Highway to Caldwell Road, along with landscape improvements at the entrance to Challenge Grove Park along Caldwell Road.

“These improvements to Challenge Grove will further the facility’s role as a place where kids of all abilities can play and interact together with their friends and family,” Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Parks Department, said.  “As elected officials our goal is to improve the quality of life in Camden County, and this extraordinary place does just that for a very special group of athletes.”

Camden County’s Challenge Grove Park is an award-winning fully accessible park at the corner of Borton’s Mill and Caldwell Roads in Cherry Hill. This treasure of the Camden County Park System is also home to Jake’s Place Playground for children with physical limitations.
