5 Things You Need to Know ... Township Council

Monday's Council agenda says the governing body will vote to approve a redevelopment plan for the GEMS property.

1. The Township Council is expected to vote Monday to approve redevelopment on the Gloucester Environmental Management Services, or GEMS, landfill site.

The township is looking to have a private developer install solar panels on the Superfund site. The panels could not pierce the cap that contains toxic contaminants to the site.

Council unanimously approved the redevelopment plan ordinance on first reading at its Sept. 10 meeting.
