Former Congressman Rob Andrews Continues Spending Money on Legal Fees Despite Resignation

Former Congressman Robert Andrews spent $13,000 in campaign funds for attorney's fees between April 1 and June 30 even though he hasn't been in Congress since Feb. 18, the Courier Post reports.
The southern New Jersey Democrat has spent $288,000 on legal fees. He resigned in February amid an ethics investigation into his campaign spending practices. He claims the investigation had nothing to do with his resignation, and he now works for the firm Dilworth Paxson.
Democrat Donald Norcross and Republican Garry Cobb are running for the vacant First Congressional District seat in November's election.
In June, the Federal Election Commission dismissed a suit against Andrews brought by a watchdog group, according to the report. They sued him for the use of campaign funds for a personal trip to Scotland, but the suit was dismissed because he repaid the funds before being notified of the complaint.
