Lakeland Road Closed This Week for Emergency Repairs

The project starts Monday and is expected to take three weeks.

The Camden County Department of Public Works will begin emergency drainage repairs on Lakeland Road (CR 747) on Monday between the Black Horse Pike (Route 168) and Woodbury-Turnersville Road (CR 621) in Gloucester Township.

The road will be closed daily during the construction, which is expected to take three weeks. A suggested detour will be posted. The roadway will be passable on nights and weekends. The exact timing of the project is dependent upon the weather and other factors.

“This emergency repair was after a drainage pipe for the roadway failed in multiple locations causing flooding in the area," said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. "Several sinkholes in both the road and under sidewalks and driveway aprons have also developed."

The township has been a patchwork of road county road construction, including ongoing projects on Chews Landing Road and Hider Lane.
