Your Lost Wheels Might End Up As a Bike Rack in Blackwood
Council will vote Monday to approve a resolution use unclaimed bicycles held by the township to make bike racks for use in downtown Blackwood.
Gloucester Township may have found a resourceful use for old and broken bicycles that are now just taking up space.
Michael Cagno, the executive director of the Noyes Museum of Art at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, approached the township with an idea to take unclaimed bicycles held by the township and use their parts to create bike racks, said township Clerk Rosemary DiJosie.
The bike racks will be used in the Downtown Blackwood area to be placed along the Blackwood Railroad Trail bike path. The proposal would not only give bicyclists in Downtown Blackwood a place to lock up, but would also clear out storage space.

During a recent meeting, council acknowledged many of the bikes are broken and in need of repairs, making Cagno's proposal a responsible re-use.
Creating and installing the racks won't cost the township anything, DiJosie told council, which will vote on the resolution at its meeting on Monday, Feb. 11.
