Township Reorganization Meeting Brings Dozens of Appointments

Council also adopted its 2012 meeting schedule.

After its new members, Sam Siler and Tracy Trotto, and re-elected members, Glen Bianchini and Orlando Mercado, were sworn in, the Township Council approved more than a dozen professional services appointments by Mayor David Mayer during Monday night's Gloucester Township reorganization meeting.

The following Mayer appointments for 2012 were approved during the annual meeting:

  • Labor Counsel: Archer & Greiner 
  • Labor Negotiations Counsel: Parker McCay
  • Bond Counsel: Parker McCay
  • Workmen's Compensation Counsel: Capehart Scratchard
  • Financial Advisor: Acacia Financial Group
  • Economic Development Consultant: The Kolluri Group LLC
  • Redevelopment Engineer: CME Associates
  • Sidewalks Engineer: J. Timothy Kernan Associates
  • Streets Engineer: Remington & Vernick
  • Recreation Engineer: Pettit Associates
  • Storm Drainage Engineer: CES (Consulting Engineer Services) Engineers
  • Redevelopment Planner/Architect: T&M Associates
  • Computer/Computer Newtork Consultant: United Computer Sales & Service
  • Energy Consultant: Blue Sky Power

The following Mayer appointments were also read into the record by Clerk Rosemary DiJosie during Monday's meeting:

  • Municipal Court Prosecutor: Jack Kennedy
  • Environmental and Open Space Advisory Committee (1-year terms): Cindy Clark, Charles Pilidis, Sharon Mickle, Joseph Pillo (Planning Board member), and Michael Acevedo (Zoning Board member)
  • Housing Authority (5-year term): Stan Washington
  • Planning Board (4-year terms): Josephine Washington (class I) and Len Moffa (class II - municipal employee appointment)
  • Human Relations Commission: David McMurray, Josephine Washington, Mary Dorazo, Steven Hirschbuhl, Phyllis Giusti, Charles Klingberg, Laura Power, Walter Dority, and Beverly Engelbert
  • Human Relations Commission-Council Liaison: Trotto

Mayer did not name a media consultant in time for Monday's meeting. The township received requests for qualifications (RFQs) from both Steve Acito and ADaGeo Communications LLC for the position.

In addition to approving more than a dozen of Mayer's 2012 professional services appointments, Council also voted to approve Robert Stewart, of Inverso & Stewart, as the township's auditor, Glen Leary as municipal court public defender, and Mercado, who was re-selected as Council vice president by his peers during the meeting, as a planning board member.

Council also appointed the following individuals to the noted board, committee commission or authority:

  • Multiple Dwelling Commission (1-year terms): Mayer and Business Administrator Tom Cardis
  • Blackwood Lake Advisory Committee (2-year terms): Paul Beyers, Robert Irvine and Steven Riccitelli
  • Historical and Scenic Preservation Committee (5-year terms): Lyn Jankowski, Judy Sarama, Joanne Carr, Lucy Middlecamp, Robert Irvine, Jeff Lilley, Ron Jankowski and Vicki Robbins
  • Housing Authority (5-year term): Nadira Gansiam
  • Advisory Committee for Recreation and Parks (2-year terms): Debi Carr, Christopher Pisani and Peter Fascia
  • Zoning Board (Four-year terms): Frank Simiriglia and Arlene Chiumento
  • Zoning Board (One-year terms as alternates): Phyllis Giusti (Alternate No. 1) and Michael Acevedo (Alternate No. 2)

Council also designated several members as liaisons to various committees and authorities within the township.

Those Council liaison appointments are as follows:

  • Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee: Frank Schmidt
  • Housing Authority: Dan Hutchison
  • Environmental and Open Space Advisory Committee: Michelle Gentek
  • Blackwood Lake Advisory Committee: Siler
  • Veterans Committees: Siler
  • Municipal Utilities Authority: Bianchini

Council also adopted its 2012 meeting schedule Monday night.

The governing body will conduct public-action meetings beginning at 7:30 p.m. on the following dates (all are on Monday, except as noted): Jan. 9, Jan. 23, Feb. 13, Feb. 27, March 12, March 26, April 9, April 23, May 14, May 30 (Wednesday), June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23, Aug. 13, Aug. 27, Sept. 10, Sept. 24, Oct. 10 (Wednesday), Oct. 22, Nov. 14 (Wednesday), Nov. 26 and Dec. 17.

Council will conduct work sessions on the following dates (all are on Monday, except as noted): Jan. 4, Feb. 6, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4, July 2, Aug. 6, Sept. 5 (Wednesday), Oct. 1, Nov. 5 and Dec. 3.
