VIDEO: Mayor, Council Recognize Champion Chargers

Mayor David Mayer and Council recognized the 2011 South Jersey Group 3 champion Timber Creek Regional High School Chargers Monday night.

When you go 12-0 and win a sectional football title, you're going to be on the receiving end of some accolades.

On Monday night, it was the township government's turn to get in on the act with regard to the Timber Creek Regional High School Chargers.

Mayor David Mayer and the Township Council declared Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, "Timber Creek Football Team Day."

Roughly 25 Chargers and members of the team's coaching staff attended a ceremony at the municipal building to receive proclamations noting the day's designation and congratulating them on their accomplishment.

The Chargers defeated Hammonton, 33-7, on Dec. 3 to win the South Jersey Group 3 championship—the first sectional title in school history.
