The Woodcrest Road Bridge is one of two bridges in the county that will see temporarily altered traffic patterns as of Feb. 3, the Camden County Department of Public Works announced on Thursday.
White Horse Road Bridge in Lindenwold is the other that will see altered traffic patterns. Both bridges run over New Jersey Transit and PATCO rail lines.
“The traffic control plan will shift vehicles toward the center of the bridges in order to reduce the load off of certain bridge beams until the repairs can be implemented,” Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, said. “These repairs are part of a long-term infrastructure improvement program for our 50 bridges throughout the county.”

A recent study showed both bridges are in need of structural repairs.
The Woodcrest Road Bridge project involves temporarily narrowing of the existing lane widths from 18 feet wide to 11 feet wide and adding 7-foot wide shoulders on either side of the travel lanes. The speed limit will be 25 miles an hour.

“The work will take place under the bridges, so there should be no need to reduce the number of traffic lanes during the project, and it will be performed at night during weekends to minimize train disruption,” Leonard said.
