At the BOE Meeting on Monday a One- On- One Aide from Gloucester Township questioned WHY are we sending Special Needs Children to Gloucester County Special Services and paying 3 times as much money for their Aides' salary than we pay our own Aides in our Classrooms.In addition we pay a high tuition and an out of County fee for our students to go there. The answer given to her by the Board was not very clear. "That is what they charge "????? We can see a clear path here if you look a little deeper. The Board hired Dr.Martin who came from Gloucester County Special Services where she was an Assistant Principal. Then they hired Kevin O'Brien who was a Speech Teacher at Gloucester County Special Services to be her Special Education Supervisor. ( A speech background has nothing to do with being a Special Education Supervisor.)They also hired two women to work in Dr.Martins Office from there as well. They hire Speakers to talk to our Special Education Parents from there too .So I guess no one in Camden County is acceptable or experienced in these fields? Or do we like to pay more for out of district people? Or are only friends of Doctor Martin desired? Or are all jobs advertised by the Gloucester Township Board of Education just a formality since they keep selecting friends of friends and eliminating all other applicants? Who has the true answers to these questions? Anyone? Mr. Bilodeau said Monday night that they are being transparent . Really? Well sorry it doesn't seem so to anyone who researches the facts, now does it?
