Spring has Sprung for Kids' Tennis in Gloucester Township

Got Spring? Gloucester Twp. Community Park does Tennis!

The smell of fresh cut grass and the chirp of birds gathering in the trees are both signs that spring has come to South Jersey. But there is another signature event that captures the attention of many kids and parents in Gloucester Twp. It is the sound of laughter—good times being had—as young athletes take the courts at Gloucester Twp. Community Park for the annual spring tennis sessions offered by Gloucester Twp. Recreation and Gotta Play Tennis Kids.

Designed for kids ages 5-10, this format of play called QuickStart Tennis is a natural for this time of year as kids, and their parents, shake away the winter cobwebs and have some fun, get healthy exercise, and develop skills along the way. No mouthguards, pads or helmets are seen here as tennis brings all the enjoyment of competition with little fear of injury. And all the equipment needed for the games, skill building, and friendly team challenges is provided.

If you want to experience first-hand the joy of playing tennis on kid-sized courts with properly scaled-down equipment, stop by on Saturdays for the next few weeks and take a glance as the spring sessions continue into their fourth week. Summer sessions and camps, as well as teen programs, are also available in the upcoming weeks with details available on the Gloucester Twp. Recreation website. And if you are interested in a more hands-on experience on the court itself, mark your calendar for Tennis Family Fun Day on June 22nd at Gloucester Twp. Community Park tennis courts. This free event is a way for township residents to share in the kinds of activities provided in many of the tennis programs throughout the year.
