Baseball and Softball Playoff Seeds Released
The Highland baseball and Triton softball team each earned a No. 8 seed in their respective groups.
The NJSIAA released its playoff brackets for baseball and softball Thursday night and a pair of teams were rewarded for strong seasons with a first-round home game.
After an 0-3 start, the Highland baseball team stormed back to earn a No. 8 seed in the South Jersey Group 3 playoffs. The Tartans will open up at home against No. 9 Oakcrest, Monday.
Playing out of the Tri-County Conference, the Tartans have compiled an 11-9 record, while the Falcons of Oakcrest are 12-10 out of the Cape-Atlantic League. The teams did not meet in the regular season.

The winner of the matchup is likely to face No. 1 seed Hammonton, which faces No. 16 Lacey.
Also competing in Group 3 is Timber Creek, which enters the postseason as a No. 13 seed. The Chargers, who are 8-11, will take on No. 4 Manchester Township. Manchester is 13-6 playing out of the Shore Conference.

In softball, a local team will also host an 8 vs. 9 game, as the Triton Mustangs face the Atlantic City Vikings on Monday. Triton achieved a 12-6 record playing in the Olympic Colonial, while Atlantic City went 11-6 in the Cape-Atlantic League.
The winner of this matchup could be looking at a tough task in the second round against No. 1 Toms River East, which earned the top seed by going 21-2.
The Timber Creek softball team will also be getting its feet wet in the playoff pool. The Chargers earned a No. 10 seed and will hit the road against No. 7 Oakcrest in another Olympic vs. Cape-Atlantic matchup. That game is slated for Tuesday.
