CARE International for Japan at Timber Creek

The students of Timber Creek High School are concerned about the families and children of Japan devastated by the Earthquake and Tsunami.  On April 11, 2011 Timber Creek High School will kick off a week long event to raise awareness and money for the residents of Japan who are suffering from the recent Tsunami/ Earthquake/ Radiation disaster.  Beginning April 11 each homeroom will create a shoe box care package with items being requested by CARE International.   In addition each class will compete to send their Vice Principal away for the day by donating change during lunch periods.  The class that raises the most money by Friday April 15 will have the opportunity to send their Vice Principal to a “deserted island.”  On April 14 each student will have the opportunity to send a message of hope on a postcard to families and children of Japan.  The postcards will feature artwork from Timber Creek Students and will be printed by our students with multiple disabilities.  April 15, will end our week- long awareness with a tribute to Japan and a message of hope.  Hundreds of students will gather to create a “human poster” of the flag of Japan and Japanese symbols of hope. Our students hope to record the event and put it on YouTube to reach the people of Japan with a message of encouragement and hope.
