Encounters with the Lords of Time

The Maya Countdown to the Apocalypse: An Exploration of Maya Culture and Preoccupation with the Measurement of Time Lecture Series, presented by the Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility at Camden County College concludes with Dr. Loa Traxler, co-curator of the Penn Museum exhibit and a member of the Copan team, explaining how the 16 kings who ruled for nearly four centuries – 426-800 AD were seen as semi-divine figures, which were connected to and intervened with supernatural forces.  Traxler will use slides of the artifacts – some of which she discovered herself – to explore the mysteries of Maya culture. Professional development available for educators.

Location: Civic Hall, inside the Connector Building, Blackwood Campus

Presented in cooperation with Penn Museum’s International Classroom Program.
