Santa and the Running Back

Gloucester Township Patch has picked six events for those of all ages to enjoy.

This weekend is incredibly exciting. Two celebrities are in town—Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and Santa Claus! If football and the jolly fellow aren't your thing, don't fret, we've picked other great events to occupy your time. There's a show about a doctor that speaks to critters, an early Thanksgiving feast and chances to shop till you drop.

Meet Eagles Running Back Le Sean McCoy

  • Where/When: Voorhees Town Center, Intersection of Somerdale and Burnt Mill Roads, Voorhees; Today, 7 p.m.
  • What's Going On: My husband told me this guy is kind of a big deal, so I thought I'd include this event. Sports fans have a chance to meet Eagles Running Back Le Sean McCoy tonight at Just Sports Collectibles!  Getting his autograph would also make an amazing gift for the Eagles' fan in your life. Make sure you bring paper or an item for the athlete to sign, if not - photographs of McCoy and sports items can be purchased at Just Sports for additional fees.
  • Price: $40 per autograph

Dr. Dolittle

  • Where/When: Broadway Theater of Pitman, 43 S. Broadway, Pitman; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m., Saturday 1 p.m.
  • What's Going On: The Broadway Theater of Pitman knows children's theater. This weekend, bring the little ones out to watch this entertaining and interactive production of Dr. Dolittle. The show, filled with funny moments, tells the story of a gifted doctor that learns how to speak to animals. He stops treating human patients and deals with creatures instead.
  • Price: $9, Sales tax and handling fees may apply

  • Where/When: Voorhees Town Center, Intersection of Somerdale and Burnt Mill Roads, Voorhees; Friday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • What's Going On: Children may be more excited about meeting this celebrity - Santa Claus (sorry Mr. McCoy)! This Friday he is making his grand debut in Voorhees. To celebrate his arrival, come out and join the festivities! Per the Voorhees Town Center website, there will be a parade, mayoral tree lighting, live music, dancers, strolling characters, crafts, games, prizes and so much more!
  • Price: Free

Church Rummage Sale

  • Where/When: of Blackwood, 21 E. Church St., Blackwood; Friday, 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 
  • What's Going On: This two day benefit event has a medley of gems for sale. You will find house wares, ceramics, costume jewelry, holiday decor, movies, games, books, puzzles, toys, craft items, kids' clothes and more. If you get hungry while you shop, there will be a variety of baked goods for sale. All proceeds from this event will go towards the church's building fund to help them with the cost of repairs. 
  • Price: Free to attend, item prices vary

Glen Landing Renaissance Craft Fair

  • Where/When: , 85 Little Gloucester Rd.,  Blackwood; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • What's Going On: This event is another shopper's delight, arriving just in time for the holidays. Stop by the school and purchase treasures. There will be vendors offering up handmade goods and food will be for sale. This family friendly event is sure to have tons of items that will make unique gifts (of course, feel free to shop for yourself).
  • Price: Free to attend, goods prices vary

Community Thanksgiving Service

  • Where/When: Living Word Bible Fellowship Church, 188 W Church St., Blackwood; Sunday, 7p.m.
  • What's Going On: Everyone is welcome to come socialize  at Living Word Bible Fellowship Church this Sunday. Enjoy an early Thanksgiving Day feast with members of the congregation, their family and friends. This event is meant for all and is a great way to meet other members of your community.
