Program Encourages Reading at Ann Mullen Middle School

The students earned a record number of points participating in a program using Accelerated Reader.

Sixth grade Language Arts students at Ann A. Mullen Middle School were motivated to read more than they ever read before.

The students participated in n a reading challenge this year using Accelerated Reader (AR), a computerized reading incentive program that awards students points each time they read a book and pass an "AR" quiz on the "AR" website, Language Arts Teacher Brent Lyons said.

“Each book they read is worth a certain number of points based on the word count - the more words, the higher the point value. Below is the list of students earning at least 100 points,” Lyons said. “These students were dedicated to the challenge and likely read more books this school year then they ever have before.”
