Sicklerville Resident Among Recipients of $20,000 College Scholarship

A Sicklerville resident was among seven students from New Jersey that received a total of $20,000 in college scholarships for the 2014 – 2015 academic year.

Julia Cazan, a junior at Philadelphia University, was the recipient of the scholarship made possible through the support of members of the New Jersey Apartment Association, the NJAA Charitable Fund, Inc. announced this week.

The New Jersey Apartment Association is a non-profit trade association representing owners, managers, builders, and developers of nearly 190,000 rental homes in New Jersey as well as hundreds of suppliers to the multi-family housing industry.

“These students represent the future of business and industry and have been selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants for their academic achievements, leadership and participation in school and community activities,” NJAA Charitable Fund President Brent Kohere said. “Their intended careers and backgrounds mirror the diversity of NJAA’s member firms and communities. We are pleased to assist these students in their academic pursuits and wish them continued success.” 

Other recipients from New Jersey included: Joseph Kuperschmidt of Voorhees (freshman, Georgetown University); Janel Eldridge of Sewell (sophomore, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University); Marharyta Labkovich of South Amboy (freshman, CUNY Hunter College); Rachel Mendelowitz of West Orange (sophomore, University of Delaware); Brittany Royce of Livingston (senior, Livingston High School to attend University of Maryland); and Alisa Wilkinson of Passaic (senior, St. Mary’s High School/Rutherford to attend Caldwell College).

Montana Morris (senior, Hatboro-Horsham High School to attend Rider University) is a resident of Horsham, Pa. 

To be eligible for one of the $2,500 scholarships, applicants must be a dependent child of a full-time NJAA member firm employee or reside in an NJAA member community. The student also must plan to continue his or her education at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. High school seniors or graduates and current post-secondary students may apply each year during the course of their undergraduate studies.
