Soccer Playoff Brackets Released

Five local soccer teams will compete in the playoffs, which begin next week.

Five soccer teams in the Black Horse Pike Regional School District found out their playoff opponents today when the NJSIAA released the boys’ and girls’ soccer playoff brackets.

The Timber Creek boys’ soccer team will begin its quest to defend its South Jersey Group 3 championship as the No. 4 seed. The Chargers, who advanced all the way to the state final in 2011, will host No. 13 West Hampton Tech on Monday.

With a victory, Timber Creek would face the winner of No. 5 Cumberland/No. 12 Oakcrest.

Moorestown, which defeated Timber Creek, 1-0, in the South Jersey Coaches Cup quarterfinals last weekend, is the No. 1 seed. If Moorestown and Timber Creek meet in the semifinals, it will mark the third straight year the teams will have squared off in the postseason. The Chargers won the last two playoff contests.

Other top teams in Group 3 are Kingsway (2) and Hammonton (3).

The Triton boys' soccer team snuck in the playoffs in Group 4, earning a No. 14 seed. The Mustangs will travel to face No. 3 Clearview on Monday. The two teams know each other well. They last met on Oct. 10, with Clearview pulling out a 2-1 win thanks to a pair of goals by Dylan Meyler.

The winner will face No. 6 Williamstown or No. 11 Toms River North in the quarterfinals.

Absegami is the No. 1 seed in Group 4, with Washington Township earning the second seed.

You can view the boys’ brackets here.

On the girls’ side, Triton (8-7-1) was the only local girls’ team to earn an automatic playoff spot by finishing at .500 or above, while Timber Creek and Highland also found their way into the postseason.

Despite its regular-season success, Triton has a difficult road ahead in a loaded Group 4 bracket. The Mustangs are a No. 12 seed and will open on the road against no. 5 Williamstown on Tuesday. The two teams met on Monday, with Williamstown scoring a convincing 5-1 victory. The Braves also beat the Mustangs, earlier in the season, but Triton was much more competitive in a 4-3 loss.

The winner will advance to take on No. 4 Cherokee or No. 12 Clearview. Eastern is the No. 1 seed in Group 4, with Lenape seeded second.

In Group 3, Timber Creek finds itself as the No. 8 seed and will travel to take on No. 9 Delsea on Tuesday.

The Chargers (6-10) have struggled of late, taking a three-game losing streak into today’s contest with Cherokee.

Meanwhile, Delsea (8-9-1), which competes in the Tri-County Conference, has gone 1-3 in its last four contests.

The winner of Tuesday’s first-round contest will likely face No. 1 Hammonton, which has a first-round matchup with No. 16 Winslow Township.

Also in Group 3, Highland earned a No. 11 seed and will take on No. 6 Burlington Township on Tuesday. The Tartans (3-10-2) face Burlington
Township, which has an 8-7-1 record playing out of the Burlington County Scholastic League.

The winner of that contest will take on either No. 3 Kingsway or No. 14 Lacey.

With a batch of storms expected to hit the area early next week, the schedule may change. Patch will keep you informed of any postponements that affect the local teams.
