Triton Students, Staff Raise $3,500 for Pediatric Cancer

Students and staff at Triton Regional High School raised more than $3,500 in support of Go4theGoal—a nonprofit that supports pediatric cancer initiatives—by participating a National Dress 4 Pediatric Cancer Day event on Sept. 27.

It was the second year Triton has participated in Dress 4 Pediatric Cancer Day in memory of Timothy Frantz, who succumbed to Ewing's Sarcoma in 2008 at the age of 18.

Frantz's mother, Wendy, is friends of Triton athletic trainer Karen Flint.

“Wendy and I wish to thank everyone who helped make a difference in the lives of kids with cancer,” Flint said in an email to the student body and faculty at Triton. “Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated.”

The money raised at Triton will benefit New Jersey's pediatric cancer patients.

Participants in Dress 4 Pediatric Cancer Day, held Sept. 27, are encouraged to wear gold—gold shirts, gold socks, gold stickers, gold buttons, gold ribbons. Go4theGoal also recommends employers allow employees to "dress down" for the day for a small donation of $1.

Go4theGoal provides children undergoing cancer treatment and their families with financial assistance, runs fun hospital-based programs, grants special wishes, and supplies state-of-the-art electronic products to children and pediatric oncology units in more than 40 hospitals across the country. Since 2007, Go4theGoal has funded more than $500,000 in innovative pediatric cancer research.
