Blackwood Kiwanis 10-11 Team Wins Opener

The Blackwood all-star team shuts out Audubon in its District 14 opener.

Blackwood Kiwanis Little League's 10-11 all-star team pounded out nine hits on its way to a District 14 tournament-opening 8-0 win over Audubon Monday night.

Dylan Maria, who pitched two innings, was credited with the win for Blackwood. Also pitching for Blackwood in the combined shutout were Jake McDonnell (2 1/3 innings pitched) and Marc-Anthony Rodriguez (1 2/3 innings pitched).

Rodriguez got the Blackwood offense going in the first inning with a towering two-run home run. The team plated six more runs over the next three innings en route to the easy victory.

Maria added triples in both the third and fourth innings. He knocked in one run and scored two in the game.

Blackwood Kiwanis' 10-11 team is scheduled to next face Haddon Heights, which will host the game, at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
