Blackwood Kiwanis Little League to Host Summer Camps

Sign up Saturday for one of two weeklong sessions to be offered beginning Monday.

Think your kid has the natural skills to be a good ballplayer but could use a little one-on-one training to hone those skills?

Blackwood Kiwanis Little League may be offering just what you're looking for over the next two weeks.

The Blackwood baseball league and Diamond Sports Academy will offer baseball/softball training to boys and girls ages 5 to 16 from both Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 8-12.

"Their abundant baseball knowledge and expertise will be a valuable experience for all those attending the camp," Blackwood Kiwanis Little League President Ben Zanghi said.

Each one-week session will include half- and full-day camps. The half-day camps will run from 9 a.m. to noon and the full-day camps from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Camp will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at Highland Regional High School's gymnasium on rain days.

The morning-only camp costs $100 per child, the full-day camp $175 per child.

A registration session will be held Saturday at the Blackwood Kiwanis Little League clubhouse at Railroad and Marshall avenues from 10 a.m. to noon.

Zanghi advises prospective campers to pre-register by sending him an email at benzanghi@comcast.net or by faxing the registration form (see PDF attachment above) to 856-227-2645. Only 30 spots are available for each age group each week.

Age groups are based upon how old children will be as of April 30, 2012 and will be broken down as follows: 5 and 6 years old, 7 to 9 years old, 10 to 12 years old, and 13 and 16 years old.
