Blackwood Kiwanis Wins First Tournament Game

offense was alive on Monday night as they nailed 13 hits in their 13-2 victory over Mount Ephraim Little League.

Blackwood's team is built around a very strong offense and they showed their prowess with a number of big rallies against Mount Ephraim. They took the lead early with a two-run first inning and never relinquished it.

Michael Gladis, who was also the starting pitcher in the game, hit two home runs and had four RBIs in the victory. Nick Nagle also hit a solo home run for Blackwood. Blackwood head coach Anthony Polidoro was pleased by his team's performance offensively, saying that his offense “came to fruition” on Monday night.

Gladis also had a solid game on the mound for Blackwood. He held Mount Ephraim to just four hits on the evening, allowing just two runs. The Blackwood defense held strong behind him, keeping the errors to a minimum, the coach said.

Blackwood now advances to the second round of the winners bracket in District 14's double-elimination tournament. Their next game will take place on Wednesday, when they will take on Haddon Heights Little League. The game will be played at Haddon Heights, with a scheduled start time of 6 p.m.

Mount Ephraim moves to the losers bracket with the loss. They will play Glendora Little League on Thursday in an elimination game.
