Blackwood Kiwanis Wins District 14 Opener

The Blackwood Kiwanis 11-12 all-star team will play next at Mount Ephraim Monday night.

Blackwood Kiwanis Little League's 11-12 all-star team opened District 14 tournament play with a big win Saturday night.

Blackwood defeated Cramer Hill, 9-3, in a game it hosted at its home field at Marshall and Railroad avenues.

Blackwood jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings, and never looked back. The offense was paced by Matt Prendergast, who hit two home runs for the winners.

Brian Pereira got the win for Blackwood, which is scheduled to play next at Mount Ephraim at 6 p.m. Monday against the winner of Saturday's game between Audubon and Barrington.

Pereira and Zack Nocella joined Matt Prendergrast in Blackwood's extra base hit parade, each smacking a double, while Eric DiDomenico and Jake Jones each hit triples.
