Broad Street Run Releases 2013 Lottery Info

Find out how you can register for a chance at one of 40,000 spots in the annual 10-miler.

A year after the race sold out in five server-crash-filled hours, Broad Street Run officials on Wednesday released lottery details for the 2013 race on the race website.

With 40,000 spots up for grabs, the lottery will open at 12:01 a.m. Feb. 4 and close Feb. 15 at 11:59 p.m., and race officials encouraged runners to spread out registrations over the 12-day period, as lottery chances are equal no matter when runners register.

Race officials suggested runners register according to the following schedule:

  • Last Name (or group names) between A-F register Feb. 4-5
  • Last Name (or group names) between G-L register Feb. 6-7
  • Last Name (or group names) between M-R register Feb. 8-9
  • Last Name (or group names) between S-Z register Feb. 10-11
  • All remaining register Feb. 12-15

The lottery will be conducted electronically, with results posted on broadstreetrun.com by 10 a.m. Feb. 19, and all runners who register for the lottery will receive an email notifying them of their status.

Race officials have also made an exception for veteran runners, defined as anyone who’s run the race at least 10 times—consecutively or non-consecutively. Veterans who don’t get in via the lottery can email bsrveterans@aol.com after lottery results are posted to get a veteran entry to the race.

There are also a limited amount of charity runner spots—all of which require fundraising—available via the American Cancer Society, Students Run Philly Style and Back on My Feet.

Last year, 34,058 runners finished the 10-mile race, considered the biggest and fastest of its kind in the nation, from Olney down to the Navy Yard.

Maybe if they spent less time signing onto Team Booker and more time doing the job they were electedRead More to, our roads would not be such a mess. This is what happens when you elect the Manchurian Mayer.
